Rode podcaster vs procaster1/23/2024 ![]() ![]() Also don't rely just on the meters, use a headset to monitor the audio. You need to leave headroom for sudden spikes in audio. Sure it depends on the equipment but most advice is don't ever peak above -6db. Look I'm giving a general guideline that's tried and tested. The link you linked has a photo of a yamaha desk so I woudlnt be surprised if thats the only thing hes ever mixed on so he sees the -12dB of yamaha desks as a rule on mixing and not a rule just for yamaha. While most other mixing desks you aim for the loudest sound to just be below the top so that point on the vu where its above the green in the yellow and not going into the red. For example with yamaha mixing desks you wouldnt go above -12 not because thats the volume you want, you do it because thats the volume the pre amp can handle. Is it possible for me to get something with phantom power which also supports headphones since I'm looking at a pair of Sennheiser HD 558's? Something that would go in the budget of about 1800kr (SEK- Sweden).īut it 100% depends on what equipment your using, different mixing desks have different pre amps and setting the audio gain at one position in one desk is completely different to another desk. Do you guys think I should get USB? Tell me why. I realize the XLR version need phantom power, and I have no idea what to buy to get that. I've heard good things about it and I like the sound of it from what I hear on videos and soundcloud. I'm now hoping that the Audio Technica AT2020 will suit me better, it's the microphone I was originally looking at but went with the Rode Podcaster instead. ![]() I do however realize that this is made for podcasting and such, it may or may not be very well suited for "screaming" as of which can happen while gaming from time to time and has left me unhappy with the sound I recieve. Though when it comes to gaming it'll start cracking on higher levels, thius is something I'd expect from a gaming headset, not an expensive microphone. I tend to use it mostly for my game recording and skyping so just for an every day use it's all good. If you’re going to spend less than $500 on a microphone, you should consider the Electro Voice RE-20.So a couple of months back I bought the Rode Podcaster USB, I've been fairly happy with it. You can’t go wrong using this mic on those sources and will give you a fairly accurate representation of whatever you put in front of it. This mic can capture a big low end sound on sources such as kick drum and electric bass amplifiers. ![]() You may enjoy microphone -vocals, electric bass, kick drum, guitar amps, snare, and toms all benefit from its smooth sound and flat frequency response. The range of the mic is stated as 45-18Khz and is generally flat with a slight peak around 9kHz. It is compatible with Mac OS X devices such as MacBooks and iMacs. That is the “heart shaped” pattern that rejects sounds from the back while capturing them from the front and the front left and right. It is compatible with PCs and laptops running the Windows operating system. The EV RE20 is dynamic microphone in a fixed cardioid pattern. It struck a subliminal chord somewhere, though it is also a versatile, durable, and affordable studio microphone. We have all heard the RE20 before because it is used on so many broadcasts. The Electro Voice RE20 is a cardioid moving-coil dynamic with LF roll off and EV’s patented variable design which minimizes proximity effect. While Podcaster USB microphone is expensive, you get a lot of your money, including Rode’s amazing 10 year warranties. Unfortunately, the microphone does not have a switch / shut off so you will have to silence the Podcaster through your computer. USB Podcaster microphones have manual volume controls to increase or decrease output sounds while you make sound recordings. Under the microphone, it has a 3.5 mm Headphone Port & Headphone Volume control. The top of the microphone has an LED indicator so you know it’s plugged in and receiving power. This means it will take up little space noise or background noise, but this has no benefits.
